Moroccan Harissa Mussels

Moroccan Harissa Mussels 

Serves 4



2 lbs mussels

1 cup chopped onions

3/4 cup chopped green bell pepper

2 garlic cloves, minced

1/2 cup white wine

2 chopped tomatoes

1 tbsp. tomato paste

1 can tomato sauce (15 oz.)

2 tbsp. Zah'r Spices Harissa

1 preserved lemon, chopped

1/2 cup roasted red pepper, sliced

1/4 cup chopped parsley

Zah'r Spices Olive Oil

Salt and pepper to taste.

Your favorite bread (crusty baguette, flatbread pita, etc.)



Heat a thin layer of olive oil in a large sauce pan on medium heat. Add onion and green pepper, and sauté until softened. 

After 5-10 minutes add garlic, salt and pepper. Cook another 1-2 minutes.

Mix in white wine, and cook 1-2 minutes. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until softened, 3-5 minutes. Add tomato paste and mix well, allowing to cook for 2 minutes. 

Add tomato sauce and allow to simmer for 5 minutes. Add harissa, lemon preserve, roasted red pepper, and parsley. Stir until combined. 

Add mussels and cover pot. Cook 20-30 minutes until shells open.

Serve with your favorite bread and enjoy!
